Your session will take place in a safe & comfortably quiet room. Soft music will be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort with an adjustable face rest and a heat option.
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session.
No, the therapist will always leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet - and if desired, a blanket as well. Your therapist will knock before re-entering the room to make sure you are fully covered and ready to start your massage.
You will be comfortably & properly draped with a sheet at all times. Only the area being worked on will be exposed. If you feel too cold or exposed, we can also add a blanket over the sheet for added weight, warmth & comfort.
A typical full-body session will include work on your back, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, feet, pecs, glutes, scalp and face. Please note, we always sanitize hands before touching your face & try to minimize the amount of lotion/oil that contacts your hair and scalp. Pecs and glutes can be worked over the sheet. Please let therapist know if you have any areas you would like them to avoid.
Note: If you would like your stomach/abdominals massaged, you will need to specifically request it.
Your session may start with some compression over the sheet, then broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relieve areas of muscular tension. A light oil or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.
There are numerous types of massage and bodywork; various techniques utilize different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, posture and movement re-education, application of pressure to specific points, and more. We can discuss which methods may be most appropriate for you, and the therapist will integrate all the modalities that she feels will be best for you, thus giving you a personalized therapeutic massage.
During the massage, make yourself comfortable. The therapist will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session. Most therapists prefer you not to try to help unless asked and suggest you to be like a rag doll or spaghetti. Many people just close their eyes and relax, communicating if/when they need more or less pressure, or anything else relevant to the session. Sometimes you will feel a little sore from the session, depending on the level of pressure you prefer or need.

Along with drinking water, it is also a very good idea to take an epsom salt bath following your session. And nice and easy, comfortable stretching is always helpful.
Yes. That's why before we begin your session, general health questions are asked and before your first session you will be required to fill out a new client intake form. It is very important that you inform your therapist of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage prior to any session.
Who can use a red light therapy bed?
Red light therapy is entirely safe and non-invasive, meaning it can be used by anyone –
young or old and up to 400 lbs.
What is the standard treatment like?
Similar to lying in a tanning bed, but red light therapy beds don't have UVA or UVB rays, so you won't feel as if you have a sunburn after treatment and is completely safe and beneficial.
The light is simply used for a short amount of time (up to 25-min), after which further therapy would show quickly diminishing returns. A short therapy session gives better results than constant use for hours on end. No lotion is required.
Can I wear makeup in the Red Light Therapy bed?
Yes, makeup can be worn and should not affect the performance of the therapy.
Can I wear my clothes in the Red Light Therapy bed or should I be nude?
The skin that you wish to be treated should be fully exposed to the light. You can choose to wear something or go completely nude, it's up to you.
How often can it be used?
The red light would ideally be used 3 days per week to start off with and continue like that for 4-6 weeks, but it is safe for daily use. For general maintenance and health once per week or once every other week is acceptable.
Are there any risks from red light therapy?
There are no serious side effects documented.
Do I need to wear some sort of eye protection?
It is not required that you wear eye protection, nevertheless the lights are very bright and may be uncomfortable. We provide goggles for you to use, should you choose to.
